How Does It Work
Mirco-needling (alternatively known as skin needling or a mesotherapy treatment) is a form of collagen induction therapy. An electronic skin needling device is used to create miniscule puncture channels. This promotes the healing response of the deeper dermis layers and stimulates collagen renewal and regeneration. This is a great treatment to combat acne scarring and other types of scarring, as well as wrinkles and pigmentation.
Micro-Needling is a skin treatment that combines needling and Mesotherapy to help smooth skin texture, soften scarring, and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Mesotherapy is performed with a medical grade needling device that is electronically charged. The oscillating wand of tiny needles creates very small channels in the skin’s surface so it is safe to use in areas such as the upper lip and under the eyes. The treatment aims to trigger the body’s natural healing process (collagen induction) in order to stimulate skin healing and repair.
Results
Micro Needling has been designed to treat skin conditions such as ageing, pigmentation, scarring, acne, enlarged pores and stretch marks. Results may be seen after one treatment, however most people will undertake a course of 5-8 treatments at 4-8 week intervals to achieve desired results. You can expect a firmer, even toned, more revitalised skin with a visible decrease in the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, acne, enlarges pores and scarring. It is advised to adhere to home-care as prescribed by your therapist and use the Home Roller in between professional treatments to achieve desired results.
How long results will last depends on many factors including sun exposure, general health and diet. In general, it will take about six to eight weeks for the visible signs of skin rejuvenation to be seen, but the results can last as long as a year. Each treatment is building collagen, so the results are cumulative and the more treatments undertaken, the better the results,
Skin-needling for Scars
Because skin-needling promotes the production of new collagen, this is what builds new tissue and assists to rejuvenate the skin within the scarring and so the scar indentation is reduced and in some cases disappears completely.
Skin-needling for Anti-Ageing
Micro-needling is also commonly used to minimise signs of ageing. Our highly trained and experienced dermal therapists can perform the Micro-Needling treatment specifically targeting wrinkles and fine lines on the face, with the treatment helping to tighten the skin and give the face a plumper, more youthful appearance.

Pre & Post Treatment Care
Pre-Treatment Care
Before undergoing Skin-needling, it is recommended that you use the appropriate skincare products to prepare your skin. This can help to maximise results and ensure you get the most out of the treatment. During your initial consultation, one of our staff members will inform you of the products that should be used.
- Do not engage in excessive exercise prior to your treatment
- Avoid Solarium/direct UV exposure and spray tanning (on the area to be treated)
- Cease the use of exfoliating products prior to your treatment
A melanin inhibitor (we recommend Skinstitut Even Blend Serum) is recommended for clients with darker skin tones who are prone to hyperpigmentation. 1-2 weeks prior, avoid the following:
- Laser hair removal & waxing
- Chemical peels
- Cosmetic Injectables
- Sun exposure
Post-Treatment Care
After your treatment, no recovery period or downtime is required. While you can resume your normal activities almost straight away, some redness may be experienced for several days. To combat this redness and help the healing process, an aftercare pack will be provided to you. Please follow the instructions of your therapist for post care which will include avoiding the following
- For 24-72 hours: do not engage in excessive exercise after your treatment, avoid excessively heated environments; sauna, hot spas, hot showers, swimming, spray tans, solarium and direct UV exposure
- For 3-5 days avoid active products and adhere to strict skincare advised by your therapist. During the recovery time of Fractional Mesotherapy only Rejuvenate 15 may be used.
- During the course of your Dermal Rolling or Fractional Mesotherapy treatments do not have any laser resurfacing treatments or exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion.
Also, for 1 week after, avoid any skin care with active ingredients on the treated area.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?
For the best results for collagen induction therapy, four to eight treatment sessions should be performed. However, this will depend on which area is being targeted as well as the skin condition/concern being treated. For example, small scarring will require less treatments than larger scars. Each session should be spaced out six to eight weeks apart.
